In the present day, there are a number of versions that are currently available directly, along with high-ticket items that are sure to turn heads in the street.

Chronometer-certification has also become one of the key characteristics of the De Ville series, with the feature found with most models.

Here’s everything you need to know about the top three Omega De Ville styles, along with investment advice for the next few years if you decide to opt for something from the Swiss luxury watchmaker’s range.

Omega De Ville: Top 3 Styles

We’ve selected three of the best Omega De Ville timepieces available while accounting for price, popularity, and features.

There’s something to suit almost every budget, as well as catering to high-end tastes.

Omega De Ville Trésor

The Trésor is a simple, stylish watch. It’s characterized by its thin case and was first launched by Omega in 1949. Almost 70 years on, it’s still going strong, with domed dials available in a range of colors, materials, and styles.

This includes a unique blue version with a brass-stamped pattern, as well as dials that are embellished by enamel prints and a luxury finish. It’s comparable to a Rolex in terms of prestige, while special models include a 125th Anniversary Edition, known as the Omega Co-axial Master Chronometer 40mm.

It was produced to mark the 125th anniversary of the Omega brand and has a number of unique touches. The timepiece includes an 18K yellow gold case with a rare red enamel dial, as well as 18K yellow gold domed indexes and hands.

The case back includes an 18K yellow gold anniversary medallion filled with red enamel. They note that; ‘This is surrounded by a traditional engraving known as damaskeening – the same that was originally used on some 19-ligne calibers.’ It’s a nice touch, and it’s a model worth keeping tabs on.

Omega De Ville Tourbillon

A high-end option in every sense of the word, there are currently two versions of the Tourbillon sold directly by Omega. Each retails for a low six-figure fee, giving some indication of the quality and craftsmanship.

Each one is handcrafted by a select group of horologists at Omega’s Atelier Tourbillon in Switzerland, while this timepiece is their ‘first-ever manual winding central tourbillon to be Master Chronometer certified’.

For example, the 43mm edition (Co‑Axial Master Chronometer) is numbered, while magnetic resistance of 15,000 gausses allows the timepiece to be certified at the industry’s highest level.

They’re incredible pieces, and look as good as you’d expect considering the asking price.

Finally, there’s the Omega De Ville Prestige. As the moniker suggests, it’s more refined than the others, at least in terms of the overall look.

They claim that the Omega De Ville Prestige collection ‘has attracted a large and loyal following with its classic, elegant design. These timepieces are characterized by pure styling with luxury finishes, and exude a timeless design.’

In practice, the majority do benefit from an understated design, making for an appealing choice as it’s so easy to wear with almost anything. 2019 saw the 25th anniversary of the De Ville Prestige, and they released a special version to commemorate their silver jubilee.

Omega De Ville: Values

Given the long line of watches released since the De Ville made its debut in 1960, it’s easy to find models for a good price.

For example, collectors can find a quality Omega De Ville for a range of $2,000 – $4,000, which is great if you’re hoping to add a solid entry-level timepiece to your portfolio.

Of course, the average Tourbillon will sell for a lot more, while the same is true for any rare special editions you identify. There’s a wide range, including vintage editions and affordable options.

Best New Omega De Ville Watch: De Ville Tourbillon Master Chronometer

Best Old Omega De Ville Watch: 1972 Omega Seamaster De Ville

With hundreds of models to choose from, (and that’s just counting options available to purchase directly in 2020) the market for De Ville watches is relatively stable. As with the motor industry, it’s normal to expect some level of depreciation as soon as you purchase a new watch, and that can sometimes be up to 20% of the asking price.

As such, we’d advise looking at vintage alternatives whenever possible. The best Omega De Ville investment pieces will clearly be older models, or a version that is rare, or was limited for some reason or another. on social media: TWD on Facebook | TWD on Twitter

To that end, alternative Omega options like the Speedmaster and the Seamaster are more popular and could provide a better ROI overall. There are a number of interesting De Ville special editions, and we’ve listed a couple of great versions above.

De Ville models are some of the better Omega watches on the market, and you should have no trouble achieving a good price when it comes time to part ways. The average watch might not be the best investment piece if you’re buying brand new, but there is considerable resale value.

Picking up a good second-hand model could be viable, as long as you take care to keep it in good condition.
